01Define test conditions before approving a send

The send checklist supports the final approval. Its audience, exit and link checks need test users, inputs and expected outcomes. Record the campaign ID, configuration version, channel and app/SDK version, then separate normal and exceptional conditions.

Use PASS, FAIL, BLOCKED and NOT RUN. An unexecuted test or an unobserved receipt does not count as a pass. Link the execution record to the campaign send checklist.

02Design example: shared work after a team invitation

IXC-DEMO-01 uses a fictional B2B collaboration service. User usr_demo_01 accepts inv_demo_01 in ws_demo_01, producing invitation_accepted. Completing the shared work in that invitation flow produces shared_task_completed. The service defines the wait period and excludes completed users or people who have lost access.

The example assumes one active invitation per user. Completion in another workspace, a new invitation, duplicates and reversed event order are separate tests. Correlate campaign_id, user_id, workspace_id and invitation_id in the Journey workbook and event specification.

03Expected outcomes when identity and events change

These are expected outcomes for the design example. Run each condition against the actual configuration before recording observed results.

TestChanged conditionExpected outcome
Account switchA logs out and B logs inA’s message and data are not exposed to B
Subscription changeRecipient opts out while waitingExclude that channel
Other workspaceCompletion has another workspace_idDo not mark the current work complete
Duplicate eventSame business event is resentMeet the rule preventing duplicate messages and counts
Reversed orderCompletion arrives before entryDo not restart a reminder from stale entry data

If completion has not arrived when the send is evaluated, define state rechecks, holds and tolerated delay. A Journey cannot infer a business state it has not received. Compare entry, waiting and exit behavior with the official guide and the actual account.

04Separate request success from receipt and navigation

An accepted API request is not device receipt or business completion. Mark which stages were observed: request acceptance, provider transmission, device receipt, click and completed work. Compare available channel states with OneSignal’s push documentation.

Open links with the app closed or the user logged out, then check the destination after login. Test deleted work and revoked access. Inspect empty substitutions, long titles and lock-screen information on the actual receiving device. Message exclusion and destination authorization are separate results.

05Link failures and retests without overwriting history

Record the test ID, data version, expected outcome, observed facts, evidence location, status and owner. Preserve the original failure and link a retest ID and new configuration version after a fix. Identify whether the work belongs in the product, data integration or campaign configuration.

If a revoked user was excluded from the send but the link was not tested, record exclusion as verified and navigation as not run. Combining them into one PASS conceals the actual scope from the next reviewer.

06Carry unresolved findings into approval and operations

The English PDF contains preparation conditions, expected outcomes and execution/handover forms. The CRM Excel workbook supplies editable sheets. Connect the final configuration version, tested channels and audience, untested scope, remaining impact and retest evidence to the send decision.

IXC’s campaign operations and Journey implementation use these records to define data integration, device checks, exit/re-entry tests and operational handover.
